Narine Whey, a Unique Metabolite
Fermented products have been part of human diets around the world for centuries. Everyone has eaten fermented vegetables at some point—they are a staple of traditional Polish cuisine. Products such as natural yogurt and kefir can be found in almost every refrigerator. However, the fermentation process produces more than just beneficial bacteria—it also generates their metabolites.
Metabolites are chemical compounds produced as a result of metabolism, and they often possess unique properties. They can be divided into two main categories: primary and secondary metabolites. Primary metabolites are essential for life and include substances such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, enzymes, and many others.
Secondary metabolites, on the other hand, are not required for basic growth and development but may have a wide range of special properties. These include pigments, essential oils, alkaloids, and glycosides. Because of their valuable characteristics, they are often used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. A perfect example of a secondary metabolite used in cosmetics is Narine Whey.
Narine Whey, a Unique Metabolite
Narine Whey is a metabolite with moisturizing and softening properties that help regenerate dry skin. It is obtained from the metabolic products of Lactobacillus acidophilus strain Er-2 317/402. Narine Whey demonstrates the following properties:
Antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral, and immunomodulatory effects
Antagonistic activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as fungi of the Candida genus, without inducing resistance
Natural support for the regulation of local nonspecific immunity
Acceleration of tissue healing and regeneration due to the synthesis of various vitamins and low-molecular-weight proteins capable of penetrating through the skin and mucous membranes
Proven Effectiveness of Narine
The Department of Epidemiology at Yerevan State Medical University conducted studies to confirm the efficacy and safety of Narine lactic acid bacteria metabolites as natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents suitable for use in cosmetics and for preventing hospital-acquired infections.
Clinical tests on hospital medical staff showed that a cream containing Narine Whey reduced the number of pathogenic microorganisms on the skin and in the nasal cavity by nearly half, thereby lowering the risk of hospital infections. No irritation or allergic reactions were observed among the participants.
